Jim(?), there's no disputing this bulb failure warning system has taxed the patience of most every 240 owner ever, and that it takes an anal dad like me to keep it functional and useful.

If the warning lamp is not functional and not desired, I suppose you'd do well to cobble up a well-made bypass. I'd probably opt for Ryan's idea, gutting the can, simply because I hate to burn bridges or hack up a harness.
