Radiator fluid leaking behind timing belt cover? 200 1983

I'm not sure what it could be behind the timing cover; the only seals back there are the crank, cam, and intermediate shaft seals (at least, the only ones I can think of).

Are you POSITIVE that's where the sound is coming from? A very common leak on these cars is the mushroom seal at the top of the water pump which is right on the border of the timing cover. Is it possible you're hearing or seeing leakage there? They hold great when installed correctly, but some folks don't line them up properly and lift up on the water pump when tightening the bolts... a very necessary step.

Something to look for, anyway.

Barry
