Heater control valve? 200 1991

yes this is a symptom of a failing Heater Control Valve. It is not that hard to replace...it's behind the kick panel on the driver's side center console.. Screwdriver, and ttwo small vice grips to crimp the hoses so the coolant dosen't come out. Tape up the jaws to protect the hoses.

However it is very hard to get an "original" brass relpacement...as Volvo no longer makes them..IPD has one listed at $179...yikes.

There are aftermarket ones available.

If your car has the original Brass Volvo HCV, there is an adjustment screw(Temp Compensation Screw) on the back of the valve....if you're very very lucky...adjusting the valve may help. The screw is on the back of the valve and turning it clockwise - no more than 1 full turn..

But if the valve has failed then this dosen't work.. buut it's worth a shot.
