Tailgate Lock 200 1989

I just had this apart to rewire both hinges last month, and found that moving the electric lock motor unit as far away from the latch as possible in the slots solved the failing to lock problem. I also cleaned and lubed the pin and linkage.

The locking motor (it's not a solenoid, it's an electric motor and rack and pinion gears) was moving the pin much further than necessary to unlock, and not withdrawing it enough to lock.
