Brake booster vacuum leak - what to look for 200 1984

With the engine idling, pinch the brake booster hose with pliers to close it down. If the idle speed changes ( drops ) then the booster is drawing air. It will have to be replaced. The check valve in the hose serves to prevent higher manifold pressure ( full throttle or a stall) from entering the booster and reducing assist. It's a safety feature, and isn't at fault.
