The timing is adjustable by loosening the distributor hold down bolt and turning. There's a line on the crankshaft pulley (try chalk on it if it isn't very visible) that lines up with marks on the timing belt cover.

If there is a tube going from the intake manifold to the distributor, it should be disconnected and plugged to prevent the vacuum from effecting the distributor.
