Uncle (AC?) delco,
Some people make mention of these folks: www.crutchfield.com
They offer up all variety of radios with wire harness adapter kits (solder-less connector or soldering may be required to by pass under the ashtray 20 x 4 watt amp). They offer up a picker for your fabulous year of 1993 of Volvo make and 240 model (wagon or saloon sedan). You can choose speaker options that'll fit the front door, rear door, and, if a wagon, the c-pillar (you may need to fabricate or junkyard or ebay acquire the speaker thingies for the 240 wagon c-pillar speaker). And speakers for your, if equipped, sedan rear hat shelf.
Your 1993 240 rear doors have a perforated section in the pressed fiberboard. If no speaker holes are there, you can remove the inner door panel and find the perforation on the inside of the inner door panel.
If you have the stock Volvo door speaker (HT-16x something), you may be able to fit after market speakers, I think 5.25" with the tabs that stick out. Please see my pics and posts that show this on my account article and image index. I like to keep the 1989+ front door speaker mounts and covers so you have room to mount a larger deeper speaker. Without them, you have limited mounting speaker depth and diameter (4" or 100mm dia.).
You may have amp options, as well as sub woofer options, noise suppression options as you like at www.crutchfield.com too.
And I guess there is JC Whitney to look at and maybe they have something that suits you.
Good luck. Happy musically-filled motoring!
cheers,
dud.
