Is it safe to hypermile in a manual tranny 200 1986

Coasting gently to a stop sign is one thing,,,

Coasting on a long hill or at high speeds is quite another.

Any time you put an idling engine in gear at speed, you risk accelerating the drive train parts and your engine parts beyond their limits.

The weight of the car can force the parts to pick up speed much faster than the engine power can.
