EDIT to add pump test 700 1987

"We have good hot spark,"
• So why replace the power stage with a used one, and order another from RockAuto?

"Disassembled the trunk , found the hiding place for the transfer pump. Followed the harness out to the harness by the filler tube, ran battery voltage to (positive to the red, and negative to the brown*, as it appeared to follow the 240 wiring color scheme. Nada, but my jumpers did get a little warm."
• Pretty sure Brown goes to the Fuel Gauge sender, which might be toast now. Tank pump gets 12V on a Pink wire, ground is Black.
The Main pump is on a "cradle" under the car like on 240.

"So what else make the pumps go round?"
• Tank pump gets 12V on Pink wire from fuse 11, which gets 12V from Pump relay 87/2.
• Main pump gets 12V direct on Pink wire from Pump relay 87/2.

PUMP TEST
1) Pull Fuel relay and remove white cover.
2) Force Pump relay armature closed with a piece of hose (see photo) or other non-conductive material.
3) Remove Fuse 1.
4) Insert "enabled" relay back into relay rack (cover can be left off).
5) Insert fuse 1 when ready to check pump operation. (Key can be in your pocket)
