Dr. Strange Volvo -or- How I learned to stop worrying and build the Volcomino 200 1983

Almost 4 years ago now, my 83 244 was involved in a rear-end accident that totaled the car. Insurance eventually paid (not at fault) and I was given the option to buy back the car for something like $150. I bought it with intent to just take the good parts and scrap the rest. Around the same time I made good friends with a metal fabricator and talked over the car with him. I had the idea of converting it into a flatbed like truck, but eventually we went with pickup style.

Honestly I never would have attempted this sort of thing on my own, but my friend has a history of experience in building interesting and unique vehicles. So for about the last year we've been working on and off (weekends) to take the good half of this 83 244 and add on the good half of a pickup bed.

The story on the PU bed is I purchased it on a framed trailer and then re-sold the trailer frame. It's nearing a point it will be drivable and mostly weather proof. I could go into all of the work, but I'll let some pictures do the talking instead.

Most people do it with a wagon, but I didn't have that option.
