If your alternator is original or more than 5 or 6 years old.. 200 1990

....check the brushes first. They are part of the voltage regulator which can be removed from the back of the alternator with a screwdriver and measured to determine wear. It sounds like your alternator is not charging. You will also want to check the little wire that comes out of the back of the alternator casing. Make sure that the connection is clean and tight. With the older 240s this was one of the first places that the wiring harness started to go bad. You should not have that problem, though.

For problem #2, it sounds to me like the system rapidly loses fuel pressure when the car is turned off. Check the schrader valve in the fuel rail. If functioning properly it relieves excess pressure in the system, but it may be bleeding off too much. Also check the functionality of both fuel pumps.
