IPD 700/900 Wagon Overload Spring Coil Diameter

I am looking for what the spring coil (wire) diameter is on a rear Ipd wagon overload spring. Seems to be a state secret.

If someone has them, maybe they can mic them for me?

Thanks.

I have them on my 745. But I do not have a mic to give you an exact measurement. May I ask why you want them or if you have any experience with them? I personally like the overload coils because I use the car to haul my 4 kids, with 2 in the back, and we have taken the family on a trip with luggage in the back, etc. I also use the car for hauling things needed around the house -- some lumber, bags of mulch, etc.

The overload coils work great to keep the rear end from squatting down low and handle the weight with ease. However, when empty and it's just myself, the ride is stiff and harsh. There is not as much as sway around corners, but that's the only benefit when empty.

If you are routinely loading the car, I'm sure you will be happy with them. If you are always riding in the car alone or with one other person, you may want to reconsider.

I understand the reason behind them - just wondered what their size was so I could compare them to other more reasonably priced springs. Ipd never posts the spec and no one else seems to know. Well, I know they mic at around 13.4mm with coating, so they are around a 13mm diameter.

I bought the Lesjofors, because they are an OE company and also 13mm. They support heavy loads great but still maintain a nice factory ride.
