Wheel Compatability 200

I have been trolloping through the search option and have not found a decent answer. I am wondering what other vehicle/mfgr wheels comfortably fit on a '92 240. I have seen other cars with the same tire size but can not remember what they are, obviously if it is the same tire size, wheel size is not much of an issue (offset might be, i know i need around 20mm) but more importantly is the bolt pattern. I know the bolt pattern is 5 x 108mm, so what other vehicles have this bolt pattern, if any? I am actually looking for just plain black steel wheels, the kind that most people reserve for their winter tires, but I just like the way they look and would like a second pair to put my tires on (very soon) when I have to take the studdies off and also so I do not have to keep paying to mount/balance 2x a year.

Any suggestions or am I stuck looking for volvo wheels?

So will 240 rims work on a 940? 200

Hi,
So I took a look at IPD's chart and it looks like 240 rims would work on a 940? It looks like there is a slight difference in offset- 20mm for the 20 vs 25 mm for the 940.

I've been looking a little for a set of snow rims for a 940 but not having much luck locally. If 240 rims would work, it would give me another option.

Thanks!
Lyle

Although the pattern and offset may be correct, the 14" wheels will not fit most or all 940's due to brake clearance. In fact some 15" including Virgo won't fit either.

Go to roadkillcustoms.com for wheel interchangeability listings.
Try the tire companies that advertise in many auto magazines, they also sell wheels, plain black steel too.

Volvo 240 stock steel wheels will be your easiest and cheapest option...

Yeah, some Fords (Taurus SHO, some T-birds maybe... but 240 wheels should be cheapest, and you'll know they fit.

And yeah, Ferrari 308 wheels should work fine too :)

Some Fords have the correct bolt pattern but not at all the right offset. Some Ferrari's fit. Most rwd Volvo wheels bolt on, these will be in 14, 15, and 16 sizes. Fwd Volvo wheels fit with spacers and longer bolts.
Many use adapters to go to other bolt patterns but this is not cheap.

"Any suggestions or am I stuck looking for volvo wheels?" --- Stuck? What's the big deal if you want steel wheels? You can easily find 14" steel rims for the 240--or use 15" steel rims from a 740 series---I think there's only a 5mm offset difference. I've read that some year T-Birds have 5x108 bolt patterns. -- Dave

The problem is that where I live salvage yards are few and far between so finding RWD volvo wheels (or any used parts) is a problem. I have found one on-line site that has them but not for the price they were asking ($60+ ea.). I had thought of trolling craigslist but was not sure of what other vehicle to search for.

I see that you are in the great state of Maine. Why don't you make an appointment with this Boston Craigslist guy, and run down on Saturday morning or something when there is no traffic, and pick them up?

Canton is south of Boston, a quick 25 minutes when there is no traffic.

These wheels look good and the price looks good.

Oh I know where it is, I grew up in MA, but that quick trip is easier said
than done, Canton is, on a good day, 5 hours away. I know places closer
than that in NH if I really wanted them that bad.

Kinda want to keep with the 14", unless I just use 14" for winter and 15"
the rest of the year
