re: 87 245 auto - replacing oil seals & seal plate gasket - Please don't do what I did! 200 1987

I recently had to re-do a crank seal on one of the 940s. I tried putting it in the fridge overnight. I lubed it up as usual and I tell you, it went in very quickly and easily. Has anyone ever tried cooling the gasket before installing it?
