Bad Vibrations 200

Hello everyone! I have a vibration that I can't find the source of. It feels like a shudder comparable to when you are driving over the grating you sometimes find on big bridges. By the time I shift into third it's gone. I feel it in the seat and floor not the steering column. Being 25 years old with 406,000 miles it has had increasing vibrations but this happened recently and suddenly. I've been under it. I had it on jackstands running up to 2500 RPM. Nothing obvious was found. Any ideas? Thanks!

How old is the center carrier bearing on the drive shaft? They are usually "toast" after about 150,000 miles.

I would take the drive shaft out and check the "U" joints and then spin the support bearing. Check for binding and noise when spinning the bearing. The rear shield would just make a scraping noise, not a vibration. Pauli

check your transmission tail shaft bushing for excess play.
have a look at your driveshaft and see if any of the weight that are factory installed to balance it have fallen off. although i think that is a less likely source of your problem

I will. A few months ago I blew the donut when it was on the left rear. I did not notice at the time but I bent the shield behind the rotor. The rotor is warped. If this is it I wonder why it took this long to show and then only at low speeds.
