Volvo B20 twin cam 140-160

Myth or reality?
For many years there has been talk about a cylinder head made for the B20 engine with dual cam in the 70s. Volvo apparently asked several coaches a cylinder head for his team of R, it is not clear what were their purposes, some say it was only for his team R, others say the idea was to evolve the B20 ... we are investigating this issue, so any information is welcome.
There has been talk of several coaches, Cossworth, Denzel, Axelson, Weslake. Here are some pictures of real butts, no mythology.

Icoudn“t upload the pictures.

Thanks.

Very neat pics. But I don't think the first pic is a B20 - there's an exposed 'intermediate shaft' belt drive showing (the cam on a b20), and the distributor isn't in the B20 spot on top of the oil pump drive, but forward in the OHC position. So that one is probably a B21/3 DOHC head.

Also, after a little digging around, I found some more pics of that last head. Apparently it was made by Weslake. There are a bunch more pictures here: http://www.saunalahti.fi/~holset/hipo/

But apparently it isn't made for a B20 either, but for an OHC block. The bottom isn't wide enough to cover up the unused pushrod gallery, and the 'special' bolt hole which serves as the oil feed to the head is in the OHC position, not the OHV pushrod position:

OHV engines feed the head through the center bolt hole:

There is one person that claims to have one of these heads. His name is "Smokey" on the Swedish Amazon forum. He is currently testing the engine on a dyno, and won't release any information until it is finished. In the meantime, I am waiting for his post.

He talks about it in this post: http://p120.se/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12120&p=105002#p104830 I have a feeling that his version is turbocharged.

I seem to also remember that the Volvo museum in Sweden has a 16V head in a P1800 on display.

Gunnar Axelsson has put his back into limited production.

http://forum.savarturbo.se/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=75606&start=15 - half way down the page, installed in a 140.

I believe the dyno had the 190-200 numbers typical of a 2130cc+ max build, from a 2.0L, presumably with better street manners, less octane sensitive etc

All of this begs the question- with a b23/b234 hybrid bolting up to the transmission bellousing as it does, why bother? In fact, at this level, you'd want to transfer the cylinder bores from a b23 block into a b20 like a couple of the swedes have done, to get more displacement, so you really are not gaining anything. Just more work. Now NASCAR/Prostock quality canted valve non crossflow head, in aluminum, that would just bolt on... That, I'd buy.
