There are 2 FI relays "behind the ashtray" (System and Pump), and since in normal Key ON operation the System relay instantly picks the Pump relay, I don't think you could identify a Pump relay failure just by the sound.
• If Pump relay fails = System relay clicks (click sounds normal)
• If System relay fails = No relay click at all (rare but possible, and the pump won't run)
A better test would have a helper at the back listen for pump sound with the gas cap off, while you turn the key on and off a few times.
