I have seen these airboxes held on with those same anti-vibration rubber cones as the ones on the main fuel pump tray under the car. If yours has this setup, you can't just yank on the box to free it or you rip the cones apart. Using a small slot-type screwdriver, you have to press the edges of the cones inward to clear the holes in the filter box, all the while pulling the box gently upward.
When reinstalling the box, lubricate the rubber cones with Vaseline or similar.
