If you have AC, it is tough to get a good look at the CPS on top of the bell housing or even reach the CPS. The AC receiver/drier is an obstacle. I used my smartphone camera feature to aim for a picture of the CPS. The resulting photo would give you a good view of the CPS wiring insulation that often cracks. Now, should you replace the CPS, wipe the bell housing area clean. Yes, it's tough to get a hand in that area. Then, before installing the new CPS in, paint the CPS fastener's head with something like a bright yellow, or a color that will stand out in the background of darkness. Then reassemble. The painted bolt head of the fastener will stand out for a visible observation in spite of the AC obstacles. Another photo will show you what I mean. Pulling #4 plug wire helps reaching behind the head.
