Hello All,

Has anyone had experience with the Wilwood Master Cylinder?
I've seen their parts on other cars, and they seem really well made. I may need a new clutch MC so I thought why not take a look at their offerings...

They are even cheaper on summit racing... I anyone has tried them I'd like to hear about it. @ $50.00 I would love a better product, along with a better deal, so I can put the money to better use.

Hello All,

Got the Wilwood clutch MC installed... I am so impressed with the engineering, and quality finishing. Worth every cent, hands down. I can't believe I was paying double for the OEM that I've replaced more than once! Really good stuff.

The only snag was getting the union off of the old MC. Torch and vise. Not too bad. Thanks for all the valuable input! Now to see if I can find a replacement for the clutch slave in the wilwood catalogue!

I just did the Wilwood master cylinder swap and am pleased also. I replaced the slave cylinder with one made by MTC. I bought it through Partgeek.Com . With shipping it was only 60 bucks. I had replaced both parts a year ago with Girling parts. Did not last long enough. Look forward to getting more use this time.

Have one in my sedan since last year, worked well and installed w/o a problem. I thought the price was good too. I honed my slave cylinder at the same time, new kit there and cleaned up the connecting line from MC to SC and converted to DOT 5. I'll buy another one for the wagon when it cries out for it. If a brake MC were to crap out I'd probably buy their unit too.

That's good enough for me! I still haven't figured out what the correct bore is for the 68; but the girling #'s cross reference with 3/4" bore. I will be glad to not have to do this job a third time!

I had two originals, one seized the other unknown age or origin but working and leaky. I measured both of mine at at 3/4" on a '66 122S.
For what it's worth, I have also recently ordered that same Wilwood MC from summit to replace the leaky one on the car but have not gotten around to it yet.

I also have the Wilwood slave cylinder 3/4". I am also contemplating the purchase of the Wilwood dual master cylinder.

I was wondering did you have to change the union to the MC and hardline, or where the treads the same as the original? The last thing I want is have to wait for a coupler with the proper threads. I miss driving my car!

I haven't purchased the dual MC yet, if you are referring the slave cylinder, then yes I installed an adaptor. I purchased it from Advance Auto Parts (Should be in stock). When I replaced all the brake lines, I went for male ends instead of the factory female. The adaptor is just male into the slave cylinder and female out. It appeared that the wilwood cylinder was for bubble flare, so that adaptor went from bubble to double flare.

Do you know if your brake lines are bubble flare? I just ask because my old lines were double flare, so I installed double flare, but the front discs and calipers that I got appear to have bubble flare fittings. Not sure what I should do.

Also, I used SAE lines and fittings, not metric.

you can make your own bubble flares either with a special kit ($50) or using a double flare kit and messing with it (check utube)

Hello Luke,

I'm confused... did you install their brake master cylinder for your brakes or your clutch?
I have a dual circuit brake master cylinder... My issue is a clutch master. I was going to order their girling clone to serve as my clutch master cylinder. I am running the original style lines there. I've yet to touch my brake lines. Are you using a wilwood clutch slave cylinder? Am I understanding you correctly?

Yes, I have the Wilwood (Girling replacement cylinder) installed. I see my confusion: I have the Wilwood MC and the original Girling slave cylinder connected to it for the clutch.

So to follow up- were you able to bolt the Wilwood Girling replacement clutch master cylinder to the original hard line that comes off the CMC?

Those grilles you posted are amazing! I can support spending $20.00 right now on them,as you can see I have a bit to do to start driving the brick again!

You might need to adapt it. Again, I just purchased the adaptor fittings from Advance Auto Parts. Here is a picture. Not as clean, but it works.

I'm slowly working on a '67 130, and would really like to upgrade to a dual master. I'm obviously not worried about originality (it'll be far from stock when done) so that Wilwood piece looks like a reasonable answer.
