Dear vaclav,
Hope you're well. While I don't own/operate a 960, the door locking mechanism is similar to that on a 940. I'm well familiar with 940 door locking mechanisms.
A steel rod connects the door-mounted handle to the lock mechanism. That steel rod most likely has come loose, either from the door-mounted handle, or from the lock mechanism.
Where the steel rod connects to the door-mounted handle, the rod has a "hook" that goes through an opening in the door-mounted handle's mechanism. The steel rood could have slipped out of the opening. Alternatively, the plastic end of the door-mounted handle - through which passes the steel rod - could have broken. If that's the case, a new door handle is required.
At the other end of the steel bar, there's a small "keeper", a part that secures the steel bar to the lock mechanism. The keeper is spring steel and grips the steel rod. The keeper could have corroded and fallen-off.
You'll need to remove the door panel - and the insulating liner - in order to nspect the mechanism. Once you do that, you'll see where the steel rod has come loose. Report your findings, and we'll go from there.
Should you need a replacement door-mounted handle, that will be part #9154449: the MSRP is about $100. The steel rod is part #1268724 (MSRP is about $2.50). the keeper and bushing are parts #6846182 ($4) and #1320864 ($1.50).
Hope this helps.
Yours faithfully,
Spook
