Throttle Body gettind dity quickly. 900 1994

Dear mdmike52,

Hope you're well. Oily residues in the throttle body suggest that the flame trap is plugged. See this site's FAQs for how to clean the flame trap. Once that's done, the problem should "go away". A plugged flame trap can also result in oil being forced past seals. That can damage the timing belt. At an extreme, crankcase over-pressure can displace the rear main seal. Replacing that seal means pulling the transmission. Thus, do not delay cleaning the flame trap.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
