1993 240 Wagon, 197k
Last night, I finished re-upolstering my two front seats and want to share a few thoughts.
I purchased the bomber almost 2 years and 15k miles ago. The seats bottoms were torn and the backs were starting to go. I posted asking about upholstery here:

Yes, that was a long time ago, but other projects kept me from addressing the seats. I finally got around to purchasing a set of new upholstery from Swedish Car Parts in Bensenville, IL. I also picked up a set of hog ring pliers and hog rings from Carquest:
Pliers: Liesle Hog Ring Pliers - #61400
Hog Rings: .080" - #7595
I followed the instructions posted on cleanflametrap.com:

The instructions were perfect for me. Thank you.
Here are some pictures of the finished seats:

Here are some observations:
- the new vinyl seems rugged and well made. Time will tell.
- the color is a little lighter than the existing blue vinyl. Not a big deal for me as it's very close
- I used old vinyl from the seat back to stabilize the bottom of driver's seat cushion. That get's the most abuse and the extra protection between the seat wire support and foam will help.
- I detached the seat rails from the body, lifting out the entire mechanism. That allowed me to clean up the rail mechanism and re-lube it. They now slide freely and have full travel.
- the hog rings and pliers worked perfectly. It's nice having the right tools for the job.
Thanks.
