Slow moving wipers with new motor 200 1985

I recently installed a new Ronak wiper motor on my '85 245. I works through all its speed settings, intermittent, slow and fast. My problem is that the slow is really slow and the fast speed is really wimpy. I've had quite a few 240's over the years and all of them have had nice and no issue wiper motors like this one is having. Ground strap is secure and the wiper stalk ground wire is also in good position. Any suggestions where to start looking to speed things up? Thanks.

Checked out the linkage last night and everything seemed free and non-binding. Lubed rotation points with some white lithium grease anyway. Hooked the pivot arm back to the motor's shaft and still had the same wimpy movement at the normal and high speed positions. This is a brand new motor, wtf. Thinking of going to the boneyard and pulling a nice used one and try it. Will keep all posted.

There was a thread on turbobricks a while back -- slow wiper action was the symptom. Owner added a ground wire from the motor to the chassis (think it's normally grounded through attachment points) and saw significant improvement in wiper speed. But I'd also follow Art's advice and be sure the linkage is ok.

How easy was it to move the wipers with the motor disconnected?

A man will pay $20 for a $10 item he needs. A woman will pay $10 for a $20 item that she doesn't need.

Do you mean remove the nut where the motor pivots the wiper linkage, pull the motor back off the linkage arm and sweep the wipers by hand? Don't know, never tried it. But I will.

Yes, but you don't need to pull the motor, just the bolt on the linkage. And you had to do this to replace the motor, but perhaps didn't notice anything was stiff then. Just a thought. It happened to me the drive shaft for the wiper was all bound up tight. Made things pretty slow. http://cleanflametrap.com/wiper.html

Three engineers and three accountants were traveling by train to a conference. At the station, the three accountants each bought tickets and watched as the three engineers bought only one ticket.

"How are three people going to travel on only one ticket?" asked an accountant.

"Watch and you'll see", answered an engineer.

They all boarded the train. The accountants took their respective seats, but the three engineers all crammed into a rest room and closed the door behind them.

Shortly after the train departed, the conductor came around collecting tickets. He knocked on the restroom door and said, "Ticket, please".

The door opened just a crack and a single arm emerged with a ticket in hand.

The conductor took it and moved on.

The accountants saw this and agreed it was a quite clever idea. So, after the conference, the accountants decide to copy the engineers on the return trip and save some money (being clever with money, and all that). When they got to the station, they bought a single ticket for the return trip. To their astonishment, the engineers didn't buy a ticket at all.

"How are you going to ride without a ticket"? said one perplexed accountant.

"Watch and you'll see", answered an engineer.

When they boarded the train, the three accountants crammed into a restroom and the three engineers crammed into another one nearby. The train departed. Shortly afterward, one of the engineers left his restroom and walked over to the restroom where the accountants were hiding. He knocked on the door and said, "Ticket, please."
