K-jet equipped Volvo dumping too much fuel 200 1981

K-jet does not have the same kind of pressure regulator like the electronic injection systems. If you look under the intake manifold near the front you'll see a rectangular aluminum unit - about 1.5 inches by 3 inches - with two fuel lines and an electrical connection. That part is called the Control Pressure Regulator. It has a bi-metallic heating element inside with a valve and it's job is to allow one pressure at cold start-up (applied to the Fuel Distributor) and then gradually changes pressure as the motor warms. If that unit is not working properly it could cause a very lean mixture or very rich mixture. -- Dave
