I believe the "linkage adjustment" info you're looking for are as below. Out of adjustment may result the neutral safety switch (NSS) in slightly wrong position thus no start.
Sorry I can't comment regarding the microswitch as my 1994 940 version don't have such switch, only the NSS. I think you could try playing with the gear lever in P or N while key in KPIII, just to test if the NSS is really faulty/worn out. Maybe do this before meddling with linkage adjustment as below.
As for my car I did meddle with the adjustment one time ago after few no start situations, only it turned out to be faulty NSS. The NSS that came with the car lasted about 15 years.
