While it certainly sounds like the sensor maybe at fault. One quick way to rule it out, when it is not starting, disconnect it. This will cause the computer to enter in pre programmed temperatures based on time the engine is running. Which will usually get it started and running, though not at it's best. There will be an engine code recorded too. But if it starts, you may have found the culprit.
