Recently I replaced the large, skinny and hard steering wheel in a '75 245 with a later, smaller and thicker wheel. That wheel required a larger opening for the base of the wheel. I removed the upper and lower panels, attached a grinder bit into a drill and trimmed it around. -- Dave
