No radio reception after heater core replacement

Hi Art,

Thanks for the bump. After my original posting on this problem I found another antenna from the pick and pull that I plugged right into the radio with no difference in reception. Somewhere under the white noise there is a bit of reception, but no joy on this as of yet.

I took the covers off of the top and bottom and gazed upon the contents. Nothing obvious to a greenhorn hiking through circuit boards. The solder connections around the antenna looked good.

I have a radio out of a 1990 740. I do not have the code but I do have the VIN so perhaps my local dealer will supply the code. I will need to find wiring diagrams as the connector on the 1990 radio only has 6 pins while the 1992 has 14. They both have the amp socket although the 1992 has the amp removed.

My work space is too cold to work comfortably in at present so I guess I will chase how I might install the 1990 radio with the different connectors once I check with the dealer on getting the code.

EDIT: I have a vague recollection of those flexible shaft drivers. They might be put to good use in the heater core application but the rigid extensions got it done. I also remember a flexible shaft screwdriver like device that was used to adjust the dwell on 60's era cars. I might even have one of those living with the old dwell meter in a forgotten corner....

Randy
