Fuel pump relay 200

Just a heads up. No affliation.

I needed a fuel pump relay for a 1989 245 last weekend, no spares. Found one at NAPA, ProParts brand for fifteen plus dollars. Used it since then no issues.

Nice find! If you wanna make that one last basically forever --- go here http://www.davebarton.com/volvo240mods.html and scroll down to "Add a Secondary Relay to Take the Load Off Your 240 Fuel Pump Relay"

Most of the fuel pump relays I've had fail weren't due to extra load that Dave describes. Instead it seems to be cracked solder joints. They seemed to always be on the coil mount solder joints.

I always thought that this sort of failure was more than likely due to vibration over time causing the solder to crack. Since the coil is the heaviest component soldered to the circuit board, it was the first to fail.

      Just my 2 cents...

You can toss my 2 cents into that hat as well.

I'm still on my original Relay for my '89 with 300K + miles on it.

Relay failed once. Resoldered all the joints even though the cracked solder joints were obviously at the Hefty Coil.
        Still going.
