Fitting exhaust manifold to head...93 240 200 1993

Howdy,

I'm having a difficult time getting the exhaust manifold mounted back onto the head.

Manifold seems to line up correctly but will not go onto the studs.

Should I have the wife give it some love taps with a rubber mallet while I hold it in place.

Or does someone have a better suggestion?

Thanks,
HACK

Hi,

Besides unbolting the header pipe from the manifold, you could also try removing the bolt that secures the header pipe to the bottom of the trans or leave the plate attached to the header pipe and detach the plate from the transmission.

Fitting exhaust manifold to head...93 240 Thanks! 200 1993

Thanks Everyone,

I loosened the bolts for the downpipe and the manifold slipped easily into place.

Thanks,

If the manifold is attached to the header pipe you may want to separate them.

Just loosening the manifold to down pipe bolts a turn should give enough room for the manifold to self align. A copper/lead/plastic mallet is a bit more persuasive than a rubber one and you don't suffer from bounce.
