1994 940t Air conditioning questions

Two 1994 940t cars. I have only the single dispenser mounted gauge to monitor the systems. Results for comparison of using that on both cars this morning with the outside temperature at 73.

Car 1- With AC on the gauge sits at about 60 psi at idle. Increasing to 2500 rpm the gauge drops to about 30 and holds there. Exposed lines frost up. On the road at 60mph the output temp at the vent ranges from 40 to 44 degrees. I am calling that good for an old Volvo.

Car 2- With AC on compressor short cycles (on and off every five seconds). At idle the gauge shows 60 psi with the compressor on and 30 when it kicks off. Raising the engine speed to 2500 does not produce a change. On the road at 60mph the output temperature is 66 degrees, so no cooling.

My plan before taking it to someone with proper gauges is to add some 134A to try to stop the short cycling and produce some cool.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Randy
