Brown A/C Pressostat on 940

On a 1994 940 non-turbo, would there be a downside to driving without the brown pressostat on the condenser? My understanding is this pressostat cycles the radiator fan on low speed. The fan is now constantly on at low speed. Will this negatively affect a/c performance or engine cooling?

The pressostat is leaking refrigerant at the electrical prongs. I am not able to find a replacement OEM. I'm told by Tasca it's on back order 4-6 weeks from Sweden. Of course, I know I can get Scantech or Four Seasons, but I have not had good experience with these brands and am not interested in wasting my money.

Can these pressostats be repaired?

    Brown A/C Pressostat on 940

The brown pressostat is rarely needed not even in my hot humid equatorial climate. I've had few episodes of triggering ON the brown pressostat though - that was during my experiments with variable orifice tube for the AC. The orifice tube was defective, its metering piston stuck at the most narrow opening leading to build up high side pressure.

Yes you could remove the pressostat especially if it is leaking refrigerant thru its body or electrical terminals. Yes I've been there once. Put back the protective cap on the pressostat's fitting at condenser to prevent any dirt/water from going in.

No its not going to affect engine cooling or AC performance.

Yes those are reliable brands you've listed except Santech. Replace back when you've got the new part. Its covers the upper safety parameters for the AC system.

And no it can't be user repaired as it handles very high refrigerant pressure (around 270psi).

    Regards,
    Amarin.
