Sorry, and a nice thought but That does not happen on mid-eighties cars. They still used the distributor hall signal and 2.2 components. The CPS/ 2.4 cars have that pre pump feature you are referring to. 1989 was the first year of 2.4 LH.

On both cars the ECU has to see a cranking signal before the under the glove box system relay turns on the pumps and closes the injectors grounding circuit going back to the ECU.
