fuel pump conector hose 200

hi everybody, for anybody replacing fuel pump or filter, DO NOT buy the little connector hose from Swedish car parts. they list it as bosch made in Germany but it is cheap junk! I installed one on my car and it lasted two days before splitting in four places and pumping about a half tank of gas on the ground.i put a piece of rubber around it with a tiny hose clamp and made it home. after a lot of research I found out that the real bosch part has a part# on the hose and the cheap aftermarket part has nothing on it.i put the original 24 year old one back on and is working fine for now. thanks, mike

I had one car where someone replaced the plastic line with a length of rubber hose. When it broke, the car stopped running almost instantly due to drop in fuel pressure. If you lost half a tank of fuel, guessing your fuel line check valve is bad?

I had a horrible experience with Swedish Car Parts a few years ago. They sent the wrong steering rack boots for a '75 245. OK, that can happen. You discuss the matter with the vendor and work out a solution. This guy was totally belligerent and while seeming to agree to provide the correct part--even taking down all the pertinent info--yet, at MY cost, he sent other wrong boots - not even close to the measurements I provided. It took a third order-again at my expense-and more wrong parts - I sent it all back and let my credit card company deal with it. -- Dave

hi heck- this is an example of the rampant shysterism I see in the automotive after market and service businesses. good answer to let credit card company handle this type of complaint. and foolish persons continue to ask me why I cuss. first step is to research and know whether your vendor is reputable before you send you check. beware of sales pitches for muffler bearings and blinker fluid. thanks tons oldduke

    Hell, something else to avoid!

blue93, I had a similar experience but with KYB strut mounts. Within 7 Kmi. of installing them, their bearings started to separate from the rubber. Needing a fast replacement, I installed the OE strut tops I had just removed and they lasted for another 100 Kmi., that I know of.

It's surely a sad state of affairs when an OE part with over 100 Kmi. on it will vastly outlive a replacement aftermarket part.

Hey Rico, It's funny you mention the strut mounts for 240s. I have been sending the same warning out pertaining to the OE mounts ($85 ea.) I purchaced at the dealer. They apparently switched suppliers at some point, and the quality is pathetic. After about 6 mo. of use the mounts look like rock bottom china junk. These mounts don't just separate from the bearing, the rubber has cracks all over and is bulging upward. Needless to say I was rather upset to have a part come from the dealer with that price tag be worth no more than some Ebay junk.

You want a piece of hose rated for submersible use -- SAE 30R10 should be stamped on it somewhere - if not, don't use it. Pretty easy to find.
