The speedometer is a D'Arsonval movement meter. If you disassemble the cluster and gauge on a workbench where, perhaps, you've done any metal work, filing, grinding, drilling, sanding, expect the powerful magnet to draw in these scraps of steel which will lodge in the gap between magnet and coil. The advice given to "blow out" gear teeth, etc., is poor advice.
