Just bought a Centric Ceramic rear pad set.

Unboxed and feel gypped.

Somewhat feeling hesitant to proceed with installation.

Thoughts on the 1/2 shim configuration?
China saving money again?

    I have seen talk of half shims used in 700s or 800s - perhaps to reduce noise coming from linings harder than Volvo parts.

    It is difficult for me to fathom the use of brake pads other than Volvo's.

    Your car was relatively expensive when new, now Volvo parts are still expensive, but I find that they are good quality.

    I don't know about 240s, but the AWD section is full of people who hate non-Volvo pads for noise and performance. A lot of people want less dust - I like great brakes.

    Check your brakes once and a while in the rain - some pads seen to take a hundred feet or so to start working when wet!

      It is weird. Perhaps it is an attempt to create the same leading edge bias the notch in the piston achieves?

      You might get a useful response emailing the company given they are a relatively new player in the marketplace still developing a reputation.

        Well, I put them on.

        The piston cutout and the shim cutout do not meet. Freakin overlap only leaving a 2-3 millimeter center contact patch.

        Think it would work better if they were 'grooving' together.

        I'll call Centric tomorrow and act before the crumby 90 day warranty runs out.
