'96-960 pushing out oil under sparkplug cover 900 1996

had all the leaks fixed and last month noticed some oil on exhaust pipe and that side of motor block . figured out it was coming out of the plug area (cam cover) also noticed a little from the timing belt cover on the passenger side (exhaust side). thinking PVC valve ? and hoses ? see that there are kits for the pvc valve, any way of checking to make sure that is the problem?
thanx for any ideas on this one .

The plastic cover between the cams and covering the plugs is easy to remove (some think it's best to leave off the engine for better cooling for the coil packs). Might as well do this to make sure the oil isn't leaking from another source.

    Dear drzelmo,

Hope you're well. The B6304 engine has a crankcase ventilation system similar to that on the B230 engine. An oil trap collects oil vapor and directs oil droplets back into the oil pan.

The oil trap is mounted behind the power steering pump, close to the engine block.
Inspect the hose that comes from the top of the oil trap and the "Flame Trap" - a small plastic (or metal) insert housed at the end of the afore-referenced hose.

If the flame trap is plugged, clean or replace it (Part #1389657). If that does not end the oil leaks, the oil trap is likely to be plugged. It should be replaced: (Part #9135643, about $40 at a U.S.-based Volvo dealer).

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook

thanx,, will take a look at that , is that the line that dumps into the intake rite above the throttle butterfly? i do have a problem with that putting moister into the throttle switch when it is cold if i don't drive it at least 20 miles to dry the moisture out it seems..

        Dear drzelmo,

Hope you're well. The crankcase ventilation systems used vacuum (suction) from the intake manifold to pull oil-laden air into the oil trap. There's no flow of moisture of any sort. Even if oil-laden air were pulled into the throttle body, the oil vapors would be burned along with the fuel.

        Hope this helps.

        Yours faithfully,

        Spook
