For less than ideal sealing surfaces - any oil seal could be modified to be less prone to leak by increasing the circular spring pressure prior to installation. Secondly apply thin oil or grease to the inner sealing lip as it may take quite some time before before any oil gets there upon first starting the engine. This to prevent possible micro abrasions caused by dry installation.
