I have a 93 240 that I am starting to work on - I also have a couple of 940's and I was wondering if the wheels from the 940's would fit the 240. One of the cars has the hydra mag wheels and the other has the late "honey comb" style (lack a better term) alloy wheel. Would I be better off going to an after market wheels?

I used a set of 15-inch 940 wheels ("Aries", I think...20 spokes?) on the 1983 240 and they fit OK with no interference. All 2/7/940 wheels may not fit all cars. I have heard that the 240 Turbo "Virgo" wheels will not fit 700/900 cars with ABS.

Son's XC70, daughter's XC60, my 83 244DL, 89 745 (Chev LT-1 V8), and XC60. Also '77 MGB with Chev V6, and four old motorcycles. Long gone: 1981 244, 1994 940 and 1998 S90.

All of the 200/700/900 wheels are basically interchangeable except for those used on the very last S90 and V90 cars which used FWD type wheels and different hubs.
Some 14" wheels may not clear some calipers.

The 15" DRACO Wheels from Volvo work great and there are many 15" tires availble
I tried 205 width - car wanders after every bump in road = too wide
The 195 60 or 65 track perfectly

When you put on wider wheels, check all the clearances to lines and wires.

On out '90 744TI, the wide tires that I put on my Hydras caused the wire to the front wheel sensors to be half worn through.

Wheels from a 740/940 will fit. The offset is slightly different but makes no practical difference. I had a set of Hydras on my 245 after my 940 Turbo was wrecked while parked but did not like the look. Made me think of "spats". Personally I think the "honey comb" is a better look on a 240. - Dave
