all,
i removed my bell housing and found what is causing the ball bearing clicking sound when i rotated the main shaft.
this image shows the main shaft bearing, shim, and and the melted plastic bearing cover. a new, front main shaft bearing has a polyamine cage holding the bearings separately. obviously, it's gone. this missing cage allows the ball bearings to come in contact with each other.

here is a close up image.

the main bearing appears to have experienced high heat because of the melted plastic in front of the metal shim. it is the cage that goes next to the bearing.
the front countershaft bearing has experienced a similar cage loss compared to a new bearing. the cylinder bearings are not equally separated. i show one general image and a closer image.

next posting some time later i'll ask for advice getting these bearings in without having to take out the shafts.
time to get some parts.
thanks,
byron golden
