The coils John sees are part of a replacement sender assembly, but not involved with the fuel level sender, just part of the included wiring bringing power to the lift pump.

In the new senders, they are inside the white plastic ends to be connected to the pump terminals. The originals are darker in color. Probably more trouble than they are worth.
