Broken breather nipple

So I was cleaning the pcv and the breather nipple broke. I have found the number of the part and I'll contact the local volvo stealership tomorrow to see if they sell it.

In the meantime, is there a workaround? Will glue hold it?

What year and model? What market or nation are you in? Turbo, I guess?

Do you know the fuel injection type?

The thermal nylon ABS ages in under hood conditions. You may be able to get new from Volvo. After market PCV parts are terrible, at least what I got from iPd.

The iPd PCV category page. You may need to select the model or family to find part numbers for what you need.

If in USA get part from Tasca Volvo. Cheapest OEM yet shipping may take awhile.

Else, clean and rough up with emery cloth and use a appropriate adhesive to securer the two back together. Apply progressive thin layers between cure times.

The small hole is used at idle to continue engine air intake vacuum to draw vapors from the engine oil sump. You may also merely plug the hole to endure a vacuum seal while you get a replacement. What I did on my 1992 as I did the same thing! Until I got a replacement, and learned why we know not to buy some after market items like this!

iPd says they have a kit made of Genuine Volvo parts here:

    Thanks.

      I'm in Spain. It's a 940 Turbo, 1997.

I've found it at Skandix and otehr shop. About 12€. But at least I won't pay customs or having to wait for shippement from the US.

I'll call volvo tomorrow, but I guess they don't make it anymore. They don't even sell plugs or filters for my car, lol.
I'm also thinking if glueing the the piece together doesn't work I might try to open a hole of the small hose size on the big hose and glue the rubber hoses together, bypassing the plastic piece. Then shut the small hole on the plastic piece and just use it as a connector between the 2 big hoses. If I can diy a solution until I find the part for a scrapyard, it's the best solution for me.

Still available from Volvo, part number 1332660.

We keep them in stock, but shipping to Spain would cost more than the part.

It's available and for Spain Skandix charges € 8,97 for the genuine part plus € 32,72 shipping. That's still a lot more than the part. Trying to source it more locally might be cheaper. Alternatively, compile a list of parts needed and then buy the lot in one go (up to 31 kg).

AHAHAHAH I had not realised Skandix charged 32€ to ship something from germany to spain! This is the most outrageous thing I've heard in a while!
Just a few days ago I ordered several parts from germany including 5L of engine oil and the shipping cost was 9€ (even that is expensive to be honest).

I would never pay that, as a principle. I could however ask a german friend to send it to me via regular mail. But I would rather pay a US company the same amount than to pay for the super overpriced shipping. At least from the US I'm paying for something.

Let's hope Volvo still sells it, or that the glue holds on.

              Hi,

Eric Planetman indicates the part for your 1997 940. Volvo PN 1332660.

OEM from Volvo. Available for sale. Try your dealership or maybe a discount website with Volvo OEM parts so long as you trust the site.

Some may suggest an epoxy product named J B Weld. I guess you've attempted repair.

You may want to read up on PCV on Turbo engines like yours. The aged parts can embrittle like the PCV hoses and oil trap secured to the block.
