Any trick to getting the temp sending unit out of B16 head? 444-544 1960

I am slowly disassembling the seized B16 on the barn-find 1960.
Almost ready to pop the head off to get at the stuck pistons, but the temperature gauge sending unit does not want to come out of the little sleeve. The nut came off easily enough, but is there a trick to getting the little tube to slide out? It wiggles slightly side to side, but no movement out of the block. Any ideas?

Penetrating oil and patience.

BTW, if the car has been sitting for a long time, its highly unlikely the gauge works anyway. New gauges are available, but not cheap and they are the later version with a higher temperature calibration.

For a little less, you can have your old gauge rebuilt.

I will try lowering the front end by taking off the stands and letting it sit back on the tires.
I noticed with the angle it is sitting, I’m trying to get the penetrating oil to work upward into the head, which I suppose it might do slightly, but maybe I can lower the front end and let gravity help me some.
Thanks for the help!
