Alignment after Control Rod (Cone) Bushings 900

Is an alignment necessary after changing the cone bushings on the control rods? Just changed them on the 92 940 and should have done so years ago. Not too hard except for trying to torque the bolts with weight on the car when done.

Those bushings should primarily only change your Caster - forward or backward rake of the bottom ball joint compared to the top strut mount. That's the least important measurement. The main thing you should have is less movement in that alignment value while driving. The caster isn't really adjustable, so I wouldn't worry about it.

I changed these cone bushings on my 1991 940 some years ago. Using the same time rods of course which may be important when thinking about alignment.
I didn't check or change my alignment but kept an eye on things like judder, tyre wear etc. Never noticed any need to change the alignment.

Check for loose tie rods/ ball joints before alignment.
I want to change out ratty looking end links and maybe front sway bar bushings
when I get around to my front end job, but first a shoulder replacement is in the cards.

    Cheers, Bill
