Power Steering & AC Removal 200

You're right, in your case the P/S pump is mounted on the A/C compressor. The smaller IPD kit only deletes the belt on the A/C pulley. I'd have to look at it again to see if the more expensive A/C delete kit works for your case, I think it might.

An easier way is to source the P/S mounting bracket assembly from a similar or earlier year 240 model without A/C, such as a DL model, then you could mount the P/S where the A/C compressor now is. If you're in a warmer climate area where more people had A/C as an option then you may need to look further afield to find a donor car in a yard.

If you're trying to save weight as well as save a little load on the engine then I'm not sure if it's worth the effort other than for looks. If you drove around with an average of a few gallons less in the tank you would achieve the same gas mileage savings. You could also re-consider reducing the amount of unneeded and rarely needed stuff you carry around in the trunk, like tools and spare parts, also put yourself and all potential passengers on a diet to lose weight. I know for me, having had a 240 without a working A/C, every time you look under the hood you're reminded that a featuire of the car is no longer working and it's not worth fixing, which is an afront to most DIYrs proud of their bricks.
