Driver's Side Wiper 200 88

Last week I replaced the motor and everything is good. This week the driver's side quits on me. The cable that wraps around the cam had fallen off. I managed to get it back on and tightened the cable. This was not easy to reach! After a few attempts it stayed on for 24 hours, and then it came off again. Is this a stretched cable? Worn out cam? Bad Linkage? Also is there any easier way to access the area? I went from under and through the dash vent (with hose removed).

    Re: Driver's Side Wiper 200 88

This is my own reply to my own question, but if anyone needs the info... The cable for the driver's side windshield wiper wraps around the "cam" and threads through the end of the linkage. One end of the cable is threaded with a nylock nut securing it. The "lock" part of the "ny" failed and the nut came loose and the cable became loose thus falling off the cam. This is not an easy area to reach. Removal of the drivers side dash vent and hose and the removal of the instrument cluster will make the repair much easier.

      Kirk,

Once you have removed the cluster you may as well continue and remove

the whole top of the dash. Its not that much more to remove and you have

tons of space to get to 'hard to get to' stuff like that wiper cam. I just

did my heater fan this way and it made the job much easier.
