Driver's Side Wiper 200 88

Last week I replaced the motor and everything is good. This week the driver's side quits on me. The cable that wraps around the cam had fallen off. I managed to get it back on and tightened the cable. This was not easy to reach! After a few attempts it stayed on for 24 hours, and then it came off again. Is this a stretched cable? Worn out cam? Bad Linkage? Also is there any easier way to access the area? I went from under and through the dash vent (with hose removed).
