Oil Pressure Light On when brake applied. Off when Accelerating 200 1993

Hi all: I have a 1993 245, B230F, LH 2.2 Fuel System, Auto Trans, 125,000 Miles.

Be very cold in Michigan 3 degrees F. during the day. Notice after the car has been warmed up and driving 5-10 miles occasionally the oil pressure light will come on. Remain on for a few seconds, the go off.

Some time it flickers slightly.

I removed and cleaned the conenctor to the oiul pressure sender ubit on the side of the block. Cleaned it and put some dialectric grease on it.

Still the same.

Also, car runs fine.

3 other symptoms.

1. Light will come on when you apply the brake when coming to a stop (lower rpm).

2. Light will then go off when accelerating. It will not come on during normal driving.

3. When the car is parked and running and I give it some very high RPM's the Burnt out Bulb warning light, Parking brake light, Battery Light, and seta belt warning light. will come on very dimly, and the dash lights and headklights will dramatically dim. This only occurs at very high rpm when parked or I reaslly step on it when driving (into 1 st gear).

NOTE: the Alternator Brush Pak/ Regulator was replaced 5 months ago because of these 4 light coming on dimley. all was well at tthat point.

Any Suggestons ??? Mr. Tool.......

    Amen to the worn wires. I had a similar problem on my 1987 760 Turbo. Idiot light spooked me at first, then it would go off. Later, while tracing wiring harness for problems, I discovered a worn oil sender wire (insulation deteriorated) where it is routed under and behind crank pulley. Fine ever since.

    could be worn brushes again 200 1993

    but not likely unless the slip rings are worn badly.

    Which is what could have happened 5 months ago. Brushes usually last 140-150K miles and even then are slightly above the service replacement limit.

    It's easier to check the brush pack than to go chasing grounds! Shouldn't have ground problems on a 93! (Last of the nice cars!) And if a non-volvo brushpack/regulator was installed, all bets are off.

    In my opinion ,you have a diode on the way out.Also check for the usual grounding suspects, and funky connectors at the alternator.

    sounds like you have a bad ground or couple of bare wires shorting to ground . as for the other lights sounds like a bad ground. make sure your ground is tight on the alternator

    mr t

    look at the wiring harness and you will find flakes of insulation in there

    around the firewall connector

    if so separate the wires and see if the problem persists

    also look at the harness upstream from the senders

    also check for GOOD grounds, especially the alternator ground strap

    this is a time to clean them and coat them to protect it

      also could be motor mounts. when they get squishy, the motor can tweak around and squash the wires.
