Dealing with surly parts salesman 200 89

Hola Bricksters:

Last August,2000, I ordered a rebuilt ECU from a parts company in California( I live in Texas). I'm sure I specified that I needed the 561 ECU (learned from the Brickboard that this one was weak from OEM). The guy sent me the 557. Being new to this ECU business, I trusted that he had sent me the correct one and installed it. It ran just OK. Check engine light would come on now and then, stumbling on takeoff..I thought I had Throttle body falults, etc. Corrected these. This past week, I removed the 557 and installed the 561 remanufactured one from my wife's 740. Car runs like a scalded "you-know-what".

When I phoned the guy this morning, he said he needed to talk to his sales rep. Later on today, I called back and he said "Can't help you at all, I sent you the right part. We can sell you another one (the 561)".

What can I do, other than trash his customer service on the web? Are there any bricksters who have had such bad luck?

Any sugggestions are welcomed. Gracias, a very saddened Genaro.

Re: Dealing with surly parts salesman 200 89

Do a search on ebay for "volvo ecu" every few days. I've seen a 951 (replacement for 561) on ebay before, so one might show up. Also, check with these two used parts sources:

If you still have a receipt or invoice, see if it says what model they sent you. If it says 557, then you may be able to return it.

Good luck.

Re: Dealing with surly parts salesman 200 89

Just a quick question: was the company Volpar by any chance (sorry to mention names, just wondering)? I ordered 2 parts from them and they were both wrong. I never did get to returning them, so they are on my shelf.

Thomas:

Was not Volpar...it was Sweden Auto Warehouse in Sacramento CA. They have been right on the money otherwise. Fast service(maybe too fast?).

How about enlisting the help of all Bricksters and flooding them with phone calls?

thanks, Genaro

Next time you place an order for anything, any where put it in writing and keep a copy or two or three. Then if the wrong part comes, you can check it at the door. Been there done that.. I would personally raise all kinds of hell, it's not like you broke it. They sent you the wrong part.

Paul

You are too late to dispute the charge on your credit card, so you're going to have to rely on pleading, whining, threats, etc. Live and learn.
